MUTARAKWA primary school is located in remote/ semi arid parts of Laikipia County. The area is faced by myriad of challenges such as inadequate rainfall, conflicts and displacement of people as a result of conflicting cultures etc.
Therefore, poverty within households is very high, meaning that parents are unable to provide enough food for their children. Schools are forced to undertake feeding program because most pupils go to school hungry.
The parents and entire community is unable to support the school with finances to put up better infrastructure. As a result, the school currently has dilapilated toilets which poses as a health hazard. More over, there is high risk of spreading diseases such as diarrhea due to open pits. On the other hand, girls are always demotivated because their privacy is not guaranteed. Boys are sometimes forces to go to the bush for short and long call which risks spreading of water borne diseases.
Mutarakwa primary has 92 pupils.Supporting the school to put better toilets shall build self esteem for the pupils and improve performance of school for the better future of the children
Supporting is easy – best of all, it’s cost-free!

People are excluded from quality health care coverage and they are water starved. Schools are toilet-less. As a result girls drop out of school when they start menstruating. This is so unfair –– lack of water and toilets, medical services, and just being born a girl, are enough to lock families in poverty for generations.
